Subject: Defend the Constitution and Voting Rights: Reject the SAVE Act and Executive Overreach
Dear [Senator/Representative Last Name],

I am writing as your constituent to urge you to stand firmly against recent attempts to undermine free and fair elections—specifically, the March 2025 executive order on elections and the proposed Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act.

These actions are based on disinformation, not evidence. Numerous studies have consistently shown that noncitizen voting is statistically negligible and that voter fraud is extremely rare. Yet these falsehoods are now being used as a basis for policies that would disenfranchise millions of eligible American citizens—particularly seniors, rural residents, married women, naturalized citizens, and historically marginalized communities.

The executive order bypasses Congress and violates the Elections Clause of the Constitution. It threatens states with funding cuts unless they impose burdensome ID requirements, purge voter rolls, and refuse to count ballots postmarked by Election Day but received later—a legal practice upheld by many states.

The SAVE Act, though introduced as legislation, is no less harmful. It would create unnecessary and unconstitutional hurdles to voter registration, in clear defiance of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council (2013). It would suppress participation, criminalize civic engagement, and introduce federal overreach into the state-based election process.

I ask you to:
-
Publicly oppose the SAVE Act (H.R. 22)
-
Condemn the executive order as unconstitutional overreach
-
Support legislation that protects, not restricts, the right to vote
The peaceful transfer of power and equal access to the ballot are the cornerstones of our democratic system. I urge you to uphold your oath to the Constitution by rejecting these deeply flawed initiatives.

Respectfully,
[Your Name]
